Centering around ‘circluding’ dance, thecarrierbag festival 2017 is a gathering of local and international dance artists, hosted by Danseatelier and curated by Emilia Gasiorek, Sandra Liaklev Andersen and Karis Zidore.

This festival is a carrier bag. A bag to carry knowledge across bodies, texts, temporalities, telepathies and more in order to re-activate, re-use and re-develop new knowledges. The festival as a bag proposes a way to ‘circlude’, encircle, gather, wrap and curl around dance. It is a wish to use ‘circlusion’, this awesome and newly invented word, to describe a relation to dance.

Thecarrierbag festival has been thought around two texts: Ursula Le Guin’s ‘The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction’ and Bini Adamczak’s ‘ On Circlusion’. It sets off from feminist ways of being in relation to dance and unfurls a plethora of possibilities.

EMILIA GASIOREK (GB) is a dancer and choreographer based in Copenhagen. Through her work with Danseatelier, she researches into curation and rhizomatic structures. Her work considers the body in relationship to emotion, feeling and energy, and how emotional and physical states shape the matter of bodies and worlds.

KARIS ZIDORE (DK) is a dance- and sound artist working in the context of Danseatelier in Copenhagen. She is concerned with collective organisational strategies, social dancing/support and deconstructed dance music.

SANDRA LIAKLEV ANDERSEN (NO) is a dancer and choregrapher based in Copenhagen. She is currently investigating ways of aquiring and sharing knowledge without creating heirachies.
