Are you a freelance dancer/choreographer based in Copenhagen, in need of a space to work, practice, research, rehearse, or simply spend time being withyour artistic process for the upcoming season?


Danseatelier is looking for two individual artists working in the field of dance / performance / choreography to join our 1-year house-artist program Space Away #5 from the beginning of September 2026 to the end of June 2027.


With Space Away, we wish to open our studio to local dance artists and share some of our resources. We are interested in how different choreographic processes can coexist, overlap, and resonate within a shared space.


We are looking for artists working across a wide range of approaches, experiences, and backgrounds. We encourage applications regardless of gender identity, ethnicity, age, and experience, and welcome artists working from diverse embodied and cultural perspectives.


The curatorial group for Space Away #5 consists of Nanna Stigsdatter and Snorre Elvin, both members of Danseatelier, in dialogue with the rest of Danseatelier.

Open call

We offer

  • Access to the studio Mon-Thur after 16:00 + Fri-Sun (full days)
  • Covered studio rent
  • Feedback sessions and dialogue with the curatorial group
  • A hosted public sharing at Danseatelier


We ask from you

  • To engage in the shared studio and be in dialogue with Danseatelier
  • A public sharing of your artistic practice the end if the period. (This can take various forms; such as a performance, workshop, talk, or other formats.)
  • Join a part of our monthly meeting every second month and take part in maintaining the space


Practical information

  • The studio is located on the 2nd floor and is only accessible by stairs
  • Due to neighbors, loud music is not possible after 19:00
  • We are unfortunately not able to offer a fee or salary
  • The studio is approximately 80 m² (4 x 10 m) and includes a small sound system
  • Kitchen and bathroom available (no shower)
  • The program is aimed at individual artists but you are welcome to bring collaborators into the studio

  • A few words about yourself and your artistic practice.
  • How you would like to use the space during Space Away #5.
